Dilemma between applying for US or UK schools

by mrsmarthi Sat Feb 13, 2010 1:38 am

I have recently taken GMAT and my score is 650 (Q - 49, V - 29). For this year, I have applied for 3 universities. I am still waiting to hear back from Cox and McCombs. I have lot of hope on COX but until now I didn't hear anything. This really worries me a bit whether I will get thru atleast in either one of them. I hope for the best but still am preparing for alternative plans.

If I have reapply again, I am planning to retake GMAT again targetting for 690 - 700 range. Here is my brief profile -

GMAT score - 650 (Q - 49, V - 29) (Probably retaking and hoping to score more)
Demographics - Indian / Female / IT
Age - 31
WE - 8+ years
Academics - Decent
Extra Curriculars - moderate

The question that I have is - Considering that H1 rules are now in constant limelight and the process being so difficult, is it safe to apply for UK schools or US schools for doing MBA in a long run probably till 10 years down the road. I am concerned about work restrictions that we have in US when compared to UK.

If UK schools, can you suggest some good schools that have an avg GMAT score between 650 - 700.

Regards.

hi

i am not sure why H1 B regulations will make you decide the demographics.. H1 B restrictions are especially in limelight becuase of the IT services.. i have lots of friends who have done their masters here in US(MS/MBA), they are able to work easily here and are not constrained otherwise( in fact doing your masters here increases your chances of getting your green card :) :) )
