Differences between 2005 and latest MGMAT SC and CR guides

by krisp2 Sat Mar 21, 2009 1:10 pm

Hi,

I have MGMAT 2005 editions of SC and CR books. I noticed that there is a new MGMAT RC book now (RC was part of CR book in 2005 edition.) I am beginning to study for GMAT. Is it worth it to get the new editions of these books?

Regards,
Kris

2005 is the 1st edition; the latest edition is the 3rd edition. In other words, 2005 is actually two versions behind, not just one. CR and RC, in particular, have changed a hefty amount since the first edition. The test itself hasn't totally changed, though, so a lot of stuff is still the same.

You may want to look up the table of contents on Amazon or go to a local bookstore that carries the books (call ahead to see whether the particular ones you want are in stock) and look through to see whether you think the differences are major enough to warrant buying new books.

Stacey,

Thank you for the clarification. I ordered an RC book from Amazon. I started studying 2005 CR book and so far I like what I see. Are there lots of differences in material on CR?

Kris

as stacey said above, there are some substantial differences, reflecting our company's increased (and evolving) understanding of that section of the test.

if you currently have the 1st edition, it should be worth your while to get the newest one.
