Hi,

This is a good one for sure.
After reading all the answer choices, i am down to B and E.

If you consider B first -
1) You need 'the' after 'Nearly 99 percent of...
Without 'the', it seems that there are more than 500 million different species of living creatures on earth (the original statement conveys that there are only 500 million different species)
2) Also, i think instead of simple past (that appeared), we may be better off using present perfect (have appeared) as the species are still appearing.

'E' resolves both these issues. So, i will go with E.

What is the OA you got in GMAT prep ?

Thanks,
Shubh

i don't think this problem is from the OFFICIAL GMAT PREP SOFTWARE.

if this problem is, in fact, from that software, please post a screenshot (either directly in your post, or with a link to an image hosting site such as postimage.org) within the next week. otherwise, we will delete this thread.

thanks.
