Did u know anyone drmatically improve score for the 4th time

by aylit Sat Nov 01, 2008 1:18 pm

My current score is 610 (Q49 V24). This is my 3rd time => very bad feeling
I am non native speaker, who have many difficulties in Verbal part.
I am the one who could do mgmat for verbal part in the range of 34-36 regularly, but my actual score is too low. I think that mgmat does not use as many traps as gmac does. However, mgmat is still good for learning as well as good for the clarity of explanation.

I decide to take my last attempt before giving up by the end of dec. I have some related question to need some advices for my preparation.
1. Will the questions from the 4th times or later will be more difficult since gmac already used a lot of his questions from databank in my earlier test, so the remaining question will be much strange that you never saw or expected before. (someone told me)
2. Did u know anyone dramatically improve score for the 4th time? such as from 610 to 680

Re: your first question, the database is updated every month (that's why you have to wait 31 days to take it again), so that won't affect the difficulty level of the questions you see. You'll see questions based upon the difficulty level at which you're scoring while you take the exam - just as you have before.

I can't think off of the top of my head of a case where someone improved dramatically from a 3rd attempt to a 4th. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this has happened for some people, but I also think it would be more the exception than the rule.

The major thing to think about: whatever you did the first three times hasn't worked for you, so you need to find some new way to tackle this. If you just do what you did before, things probably aren't going to change much.

Were you also scoring higher on verbal for the GMATPrep tests? If so, do you have any ideas about why your verbal might be dropping so much when you take the official test? How's your timing? Do you move pretty steadily through or do you have to rush or guess a lot? How's your stamina? Do you practice with full tests (including essays), so that you're prepared for the mental stamina it takes to continue to perform well three hours into the test?
