CR strategy feedback

by HarsheelS625 Mon Oct 24, 2016 1:09 pm

Hi All,
The CR guide mention about creating maps and I do create them when I am practicing questions without time limit. When practicing questions with time limit, I make maps only if I am not understanding the argument (as creating maps seem time consuming). In the exam environment, is this the correct strategy?

this is the wrong folder for this question.
in general, questions about overall test strategy belong in the "General GMAT Study Questions" folder (= the FIRST folder on the forum home page).

there's no such thing as "THE correct strategy"; that's going to vary from individual to individual. in general, though, you shouldn't take notes for CR, unless you have a good reason to do so.

in MOST CR problems, there's no compelling reason to take written notes, since the problems are so short that retention is a non-issue. in fact, taking CR notes might even work against you, since note-taking might cause you to focus on the factual statements themselves rather than on the logical flow of the argument.
...but, as always, you should experiment with this, and see whether it helps.

if you have more specific questions about something like this, please post them in the correct folder. thank you.
