yes, there's a big difference between "five x's" and "the five x's".

interestingly, this is the only way in which i've ever seen the use of "the" actually tested on this exam.

Hi Ron,
I saw this question on 'Thursdays with Ron'. I am still not clear why answer is C.

C can be eliminated on the ground that not on Thursday but on some other day Comcorp might have delivered specially ordered shipment to Truax.

And ans B has no way to refute. Its clear conclusion from 2 below statements.

1. No shipment of building supplies were sent out on friday.
2. four shipments were sent to Truax construction on friday, none of which considered of building supplies.

Please explain. Its very hard to digest that just based on only 'the' word, we should select ans choice C.

i thought Ron made it pretty clear that the "the" meant there were only five specially ordered shipments. go back and re-read his comments..

I understood that 'the' suggests that there are only 5 shipment.
But first of all its pretty hard to just spot ans based on one 'the' word. And 2nd, i think there is no flaw in ans choice B.

part of what you have to do with these questions is to pay attention to the specific wording. they used "the" for a reason, and you need to train yourself to spot this. the flaw in B is that it overlooks the possibility that Truax could have received non-building supplies on Friday..

Hi Instructors,

I am confused on answer (E) All of Comcorp’s shipments of building supplies last week were sent out on Thursday.

No building supplies sent out on Friday
5 special orders are building supplies and sent out on Thur
Hence I picked option E, please guide, thanks : )

it's possible that building supplies were sent out on monday, tuesday, wednesday, saturday, and/or sunday.
did you think these were ruled out?
if so, which statement did you (mistakenly) think ruled them out?

Ok got it. None of X is singular typically. I read on forums thats its ambiguous though, but GMAC never tests it alone.

Don't trust everything you read on the internet. There is a lot of nonsense going around forums:

"You have a 2 minute limit for math problems." WRONG!

"You can eliminate a SC answer choice if it is awkward and wordy." WRONG!

"MGMAT practice tests are harder than the real GMAT." WRONG!

"The first few questions on the GMAT are the most important." WRONG!

...and about a million other lies that people will tell you to try to keep you from achieving your best. Just like in the real world, don't trust what people say unless you have reason to believe they're a credible authority on the subject.
