Confusion with GMAT Prep algorithm

GMAT Prep CAT 1 Quant: 78%, 17 questions incorrect
GMAT Prep CAT 2 Quant: 72%, 7 questions incorrect

Both times I missed questions in the first 10 and last 10...

Is this normal?

There were long streaks of correct answers CAT #2, so it seems like I wasn't "given the chance" to raise my score with higher level questions.

this kind of thing belongs in the "General GMAT Strategy Questions" folder, since it's about the bigger picture. (this folder is for questions about specific math problems.)
