Concern about GPA

by victor.online47 Thu Sep 29, 2011 2:37 pm

Hi...I am an Indian student currently pursuing my B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed Indian University. I am planning to take few years of work-experience before taking the GMAT. However, I have a concern about my GPA!

I have a CGPA of 6.5/10. I don't know what is the GPA equivalent of this score, though I am aware that it is not a very good score! It would be really kind of you if you can let me know the GPA equivalent of it.
I also want to know if I have any chance of getting into any of the top MBA programs of the US, provided I have a good GMAT score and few years of work-experience?
Also with this GPA, is Harvard 2+2 no way possible, even with a very good GMAT score?

Hi Victor,

Unfortunately I don't have much expertise to tell you how to convert an Indian GPA to a U.S equivalent. Of anyone with a good GMAT and good work experience can be competitive at a top school, but you'd need to have more details on how high of a GMAT and what kind of work experience/progress to get more substantive feedback. If you are planning to work for a few years, I suggest concentrating on adding new skills and demonstrating leadership wherever you can to help your application down the line.

Best of luck,

Daniel Richards
