Columbia EMBA

by mridul_dave Thu Oct 29, 2009 9:21 am

Hi,

I will have about 11 years of work experience, age 33.
9 years in US and 8 yrs out of which in the same company. I am looking to get a GMAT score of about 720.

I assume my work experience is the most important aspect here. My question is:
Is working for the same company a drawback ? I have had one promotion to show in this period.
Please suggest anything else I should keep in mind, as I am in early stages of my preparation.

Thanks.

Hi -

As long as you can show upward trajectory in your career, than I don't see working at one company as a problem.

You will want to communicate through your essays that you are ready and more than capable of balancing the demands of the program and your job. Making sure that your current employer communicates comfort with your ability to do this is important as well.

Best,
Erin
