chances with my gmat score

by part time Tue Jul 29, 2008 7:10 pm

Hi,

I recently completed the MGMAT course and took the GMAT exam. I scored 660 -- 43 (68 percentile) Quant and 38 (83 percentile) Verbal. This score is an improvement from my previous score of 640.

In terms of my background, I have BA/MA degrees (top ten school) in history and MS in computer science. I am currently employed as a senior analyst in IT/Healthcare industry. I would like to attend a part time program at Chicago GSB or Kellogg.

Based on this information, do you think I would be a competitive candidate?

Thanks for your help.

On the surface, you should be competitive enough for the part-time programs at Kellogg or Chicago to warrant giving them a shot. In other words, your GMAT alone isn't going to get you dinged (part-time programs aren't as competitive, and the GMAT ranges tend to be wider, as well as the averages being a little lower than the full-time programs).

Thank you Alex for your thoughtful response.

Do you think I should retake the test again?

If you can't improve it by 40+ points without a lot of effort, then don't re-take it and focus on the rest of the application.
