CBS Early Round

Would somebody mind talking about how Columbia views there 'Early Round' applications admissions? I've heard that if you really know CBS is your only real option - then you are best off applying via the 'Early Round' in mid-October to increase your chances. It's interesting idea that the school has. It's as almost if the school is giving proerity to those students who really want to attend CBS and have planning things out in the future?

Hi there, great question. Yes, the CBS early decision is designed for applicants who know CBS is their top choice. Note that if you apply early decision, you must sign a statement confirming your commitment and you must withdraw all other applications if you get admitted and put down a $6000 deposit within 2 weeks of admission. So only do it if you are really sure CBS is your top choice. But if you are, then I would strongly encourage it. Sometimes for candidates who are "on the edge" demonstrating that commitment to the school can help. It's also great to have that decision out of the way so early!

By the way, the deadline was just announced recently and it will be October 7, 2015.
