Based on exactly the same issue "and", the correct answer E seems not all right. Should it be "and thus this vantage point"?

the latter part of the sentence is about the combination of the "vantage point" and ms. warren's writing talent (while the first part has nothing to do with her writing ability).

that's a new enough idea to merit the use of "and".
