B-school App Timeline

Hi,

I want to apply for the second round to major US B-schools. Most of these apps are due around the start of next year. By when should I have my GMAT score squared away?

Hi Moses,

I have found that many people take the GMAT two or three times. I recommend leaving yourself enough time to take the GMAT two or three times in case you are not happy with the score that you get the first or second time. You are starting to think about this early enough that you should not have any problem with that time line. Remember that you are only allowed to take the test once every 31 days, so you’ll need to plan accordingly.

The last thing I would recommend is that you try to get the GMAT done before you begin working on applications. That way you won’t have to juggle studying for the GMAT, working full time and working on multiple applications. Hope that helps.

Hi,

Thank you for the information. I have already taken the GMAT once and I am planning to take it again in about 6 weeks. I was wondering specificially when is a good time to start the applications. Is July a good time to start?

Hi Moses,

There is no specific "right" or "best" time to start the applications. Many applicants find it easier to begin working on the applications after they finish taking the GMAT. It's really up to you, but if you want to start working on the applications in July, most of the essay questions should be released by then. Good luck!
