Hi,
I'm extremely frustrated/concerned. I recently submitted applications before the Rd 1 deadline, but I am missing one letter of recommendation because my most recent boss (he left 3 months ago) never submitted a recommendation. I spoke with him throughout the summer and 1 week before the deadline he assured me they'd "drop by midnight". He's been "unavailable" since then - hasn't returned emails, calls, or texts. I've requested an old supervisor to fill in, but I haven't worked with him in 3 years and I know how much stress admissions places on recent supervisors. Unfortunately, I am not an I-banker or Management Consultant whose boss is expected to write a letter of recommendation so there is no one at my company I am comfortable asking. I wouldn't be considered for new opportunities, etc. at work if management knew I was looking to leave.
Having worked my tail off to earn a 750 on the GMAT and write fantastic essays, I'm extremely concerned that not having a letter from my most recent supervisor will keep me from my dream of earning an MBA. Any thoughts or advice? Should I just have a friend write on and say he's my supervisor like what I hear 90% of applicants do? (I'm not serious about the last one. I'm too honest. Just venting :-) )
