Both your GMAT and your GPA are well below the average and you come from a competitive field of financial candidates during an ultra-competitive year. I ask rhetorically, why should a school select you ahead of others from comparable backgrounds with higher scores? Unless your work experience and community service truly stands-out, I don’t hold out that much hope for you at UCLA, Haas, Chicago and NYU. Even USC might be tough but it is worth a shot.
Am I wrong? What can you say about your community and professional work?
Sincerely,
Jeremy Shinewald

Anonymous Wrote:Can you provide me some feed back on my chances at the following schools: UCLA, USC, Haas, Chicago, NYU
I graduated with a 3.1gpa from a UC with an econ background
Have taken additional finance related courses for additional education - 4.0gpa
Gmat is 650 (will not retake at this time)
Worked in finance for 3 years at a bulge bracket in ny
Volunteered as a mentor, raised money for charities in nyc
Hoping to pursue better opps in finance after attending school.
I don't really know what else to provide, but I feel like my gpa and gmat will hold me back. However, will the additional courses I've taken help with the schools listed above or am I destined to be a reapplicant?
