Application help

HI,

I scored a 720 (50Q/39V) overall 95 Percentile.. I have 4 years of experience, 1 year with JP Morgan Chase India Pvt ltd (Credit Risk) , 1.5 years with Citigroup India Pvt ltd (Equity Research), and about 2 years with Bank of America India Pvt ltd(Equity Research).. I have a decent academic record and have dual master's (Finance and commerce). I plan to do an MBA in general management.. Do I have to specialize in a particular field while doing my MBA ? If yes then I would eventually go in for finance. Also the 5 colleges I have applied to are Chicago GSB, Insead, ISB, NYU Stern and Cornell.. I plan to apply to 2-3 additional colleges.. So far I am considering schools like LBS, Kellogs, Yale and Tuck, but am very confused about which schoold should I finally apply to ? Could you kindly suggest me some schools that would consider my application? I am willing to work hard on my application process.. Also let me know if retaking the GMAT would help. . Thanks and keep up the good work..

Hi,

Any update on this? Also I am planning to apply to LBS, Tuck, Yale .. Please let me know some realistic colleges and let me know if any of these (Chicago, Stern, LBS, Yale, Cornell, Tuck, ISB, Insead) are way out of my reach.. You would be saving my $200' s :).. Also on the extra curricular front I have good background and have worked with 3 prestigious organizations.

Thanks

You need to readjust your expectations with respect to schools.

All the schools you mentioned are going to be huge stretches for you. More realistic schools to shoot for are Rochester, CMU, Georgetown, UNC, USC, Texas, Oxford and Cambridge.

Also, the fact that you have related masters degrees already will handicap you -- it makes it very hard to convince an adcom why you need an MBA and will only exacerbate concerns that you may be collecting degrees.

Alex,

All the schools you have mentioned would not help me in any ways. I am already working at a good position and need an MBA from a top 15 college atleast to really advance my career... What should I do to improvise,? there should be some way atleast, I am willing to work on it. I got ur point on the number of degrees, apart from that what else can I do?

Then find another way to reach your career goals without an MBA. If you want to make fundamental change, it happens over years, not months.

Alex,

Thanks for you candid reply...

I will revisit my goals and probably try for an EMBA after 2-3 years...
