Answer A in SC (tests on MGMAT)

by walid_afram Mon Apr 23, 2012 2:57 pm

In SC questions on MGMAT test you find the following
"(A) This choice is incorrect as it repeats the original sentence."
1. It should not be incorrect because it's answer choice A which repeats the original sentence; the original sentence could be correct on the GMAT. This approach is confusing.

2. If it's incorrect I'd prefer to know why it is incorrect (parallelism, wrong use of like/such as, both...and) instead of having the following answer:
"(A) This choice is incorrect as it repeats the original sentence."

We always start the explanation with a paragraph discussing the original sentence and indicating anything that is wrong with it.

Answer choice A is always identical to the original sentence. If the original sentence is wrong, then answer choice A is also wrong and you will see the text "this choice is incorrect as it repeats the original sentence." To understand why, read that first paragraph.

If you do see an explanation that is missing that initial text, let us know! :)
