Am I a strong enough applicant for B-school?

by treeshav Sun Oct 11, 2009 8:46 pm

Hi,

Some of my target schools:
Kellogg (Full-time/Part-time)
UT Austin Full Time

I have a GMAT Score of 620 (Q48 V29).

My undergrad (B.S in Electrical Engineering) GPA is 3.97 (India)
Grad (M.S in Comp Sci) GPA is 3.78 (Canada)

I will have about 3 yrs of work ex (in the US) by the time I join MBA and I currently have a good amount of extra-curricular experience such as being the Media Lead (past 3 yrs) for a non-profit's local chapter, was the Vice-President of one of the student organizations during my undergrad as well as Grad etc, and have lead some fundraising events etc.

I was wondering if my GPA and experience would offset my lower GMAT score or do I need to retake it.

Thanks a lot!

Hi -

Was this your first time taking the test? If so, I would strongly suggest retaking as doing so will (hopefully) improve your score and also show the AdCom you are committed to this process.

I hope this helps.
