Alternative answers to CAT tests

I have bought all strategy guides and its my second month going. When I take CAT tests, I want to know alternative methods of answering these cat questions, not just algebraic solutions. Is there a way? I am working backwards, choosing smart numbers etc explained in the guide. Thanks
