Algebra Question Bank #2

by deem432 Wed Dec 31, 2014 1:28 pm

The question asks:

(3Sqrt3 + Sqrt270/Sqrt10)(3Sqrt3 - Sqrt270/Sqrt10) = ?

0
1
2
3
4

I have gone over the explanation the question bank provides and I am still confused. I am trying to figure out how to FOIL the question. Can someone please help me? My head is spinning.

it's always best to simplify before doing any operations. if you simplify the stuff inside the right-hand set of parentheses, you'll notice that √270/√10 = √27, which is the same thing as 3√3. so, the right-hand set of parentheses is zero, so there's no need to "foil" anything.

of course, you can multiply this out using "foil". just do the same thing you'd do if these were variables.

when you try to do that, what do you get? where are you getting stuck?
go ahead and write down what you currently have when you try to do that operation.

by the way—

in writing down those steps, please copy and paste this sign:

thanks. (all those "sqrt"s make the expression pretty much impossible to read.)
