Advice Needed!! Part Time versus Full Time

by mm2907 Tue Aug 05, 2014 11:33 am

Hi! I am looking for advice :)

I have a 650 GMAT with a 3.5 from DePauw University. I graduated with a degree in Economics and a double minor in Business Administration and Computer Science.

I am currently a Vice President for my father's private equity company in Austin, Texas.

Last fall, I applied to one program only - the University of Texas's Evening MBA program. I was admitted last fall as well.

The program starts in January, but I am questioning if I should be exploring more elite, full-time programs. I have been receiving e-mails from programs like the University of Michigan and am wondering if I should be trying to get in. What do you all think??? I just want to make sure I am maximizing my potential and setting myself up for long term success.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Thanks for posting, and congrats on your admission thus far. I think a lot of part-time vs full-time really depends on what your post-MBA plans are, first of all, and secondly on how much you need or want to work during the program (vs full-time immersion in b-school). Think about what you plan to do (i.e. come back to the company?? or not?) and how each degree scenario might impact that. Think about what you would like your experience to be like during school. Lots of considerations!
