Hi Ron,

Should a COMMA + each modifier serve to refer to the NEAREST PRECEDING PLURAL NOUN?

So, in Ans A, "each" should serve to refer to the Galapagos (the nearest preceding plural noun) and the answer is non nonsensical then.

I know correct answer is always correct so I would like to understand what I am missing to understand it correctly.

'each' CAN do that... but it can also describe something else in the preceding part. as you can see, it's quite flexible.

so, as long as both of the following are true...
1/ the meaning of 'each' is obvious (from common sense + context)
2/ the sentence is actually talking about something that's true for each X separately (i.e., NOT something that they do together, or that's only true of them as a group)
...then 'each' is fine.
