710 (47q40v) to 690 (49q34v)

Hi Stacey,

Just wanted to get your take. After my first try I focused on improving my quant score (and was glad that I did!) but wow did not expect to slip SO much in verbal. I never had time management issues in MGMAT nor GMATPrep (or the first actual test for that matter...). I am seriously considering retaking the test again and just making sure I didn't get held up in terms of time again on verbal...but any advice for cracking the verbal key?

thanks!

Ouch, that was a pretty big drop. So annoying when you get better at one thing and then the other goes down. :(

Could mental fatigue have been a factor?

Did you spend lots of time studying quant and almost no time studying verbal?

Did you actually notice timing problems? Did you finish early or have to rush at any point?

In terms of specific things to address, I'd really need more detail from you on strengths and weaknesses. You can use the below to analyze your most recent MGMAT CAT(s):

Then come back here and tell us the results of your analysis and what you think you should do based on that analysis. We'll tell you whether we agree and advise you further. (Note: do share an analysis with us, not just the raw data. Part of getting better is developing your ability to analyze your results - figure out what they mean and what you think you should do about them!)

Did you have any practice tests in the 34 range? If so, do the analysis on those tests - maybe they reflect what happened on the real test. Or take another test now, if it has been a while. (Don't prep for verbal first! The idea is to see what's going on / what might have happened on test day. Just take it.)
