690 with 11 years working experience in top level IT company

Dear Consultant,

I get 690 in today's test.... I know that the score is not good enough for top 15 programs, but I want to know whether my working experience could supplement the application.

My background is:
1) 11 years working experience in IT industry.
2) After graduation, I worked for a IT outsourcing company, which was publiced in NYSE, for 7 years. I was department director when I left that company.
3) Joining a top level IT company after left previous company, I've worked for the company for almost 4 years as line 2 manager.

In total, I have more than 6 years experience on management position.

I want to learn your advice. Any suggestion is appreciated.

You can do that by highlighting your accomplishments, not responsibilities, at work and telling them about the activities you are involved in outside of work, especially those where you have taken a leadership position.

I heard rumours that too many working experiences actually have negative impact on applying top program. The B-school will balance the experience and age of candidates. Is the rumous true? Do you have any advice on the case?

It's not that having too many professional experiences necessarily works against a candidate, so long as the applicant can show the AdCom that the changing of jobs help one's career path. As an older applicant (meaning your age is higher than the median applicant) you will have to also demonstrate why this is the right time for you to get an MBA vs. earlier in your career.

Thanks Rachel, Finally I get 740(V51, Q38) in my 3rd test. Right now I believe I have more confidence to apply the top level programs.
