690 GMAT: HELP!!!

by MGNapolitana Tue Jul 07, 2009 10:24 pm

I just completed the GMAT and was mildly disappointed to find that I scored a 690 (Math: 45, 75 percentile and Verbal: 39, 87 percentile). I was aiming for a 700 or over and am distraught that I came up 10 points short. I will also be aiming for top business schools such as Harvard, the University of Chicago, Columbia, Tuck, etc.

Is it worth it taking the test again in a month?

Here is some more background on me so you can help put this decision into context.

Just graduated from Duke in May.

Interested in banking or finance but am still not completely sure.

3.558 GPA as an Economics and Psychology double major.

Please help! If I am going to take the test again, I need to schedule soon!

I'm sorry that you didn't achieve your target score! But the good news that if you need to, you still have time to retake the exam. You mentioned that you graduated in May. What is the extent of your leadership experience/accomplishments/community involvement? This context will help me determine if you are competitive at your target skills, especially given the limited work experience.

Thanks!
