670 in GMAT (Q-51 V-28)

by arunsrivastava2002 Sun Jul 17, 2011 5:43 am

I just given the exam and finished at 670 (Q-51 V-28).
A bit disappointment but my real apprehension is slightly offset score.Does sectional score matters while applying????
I consider it exceptional in quants and just average in Verbal.
My practice tests scores are as follows:

PR- 720 (Q-49, V-35
MBA1 - 670 (Q-48 V-32)
Most of the time my verbal score were in the range 0f 32-36 and quants 48-50 but i screwed up completely in Verbal in real GMAT.

I have done Mechanical Engineering with GPA 2.8.
Job experience is 4.5 years in Service and Spare Parts Management in reputed Automobile Company
Extracurricular are OK with awards in Literary and technical activities. Also did some event management in college and was a member of Hostel Volleyball team.
SSC-89% and HSC-83%.

I want to apply for Supply Chain management or Operations management preferably for FT (1 YR or 18 Months)

Any suggestions for the Universities or should I take the GMAT again???
I would be able to give maximum 1 month for my preparation now.

Hi Arun,

Thanks for writing in. Indeed the scores within the sections definitely matter in the eyes of the school, as they like to see balance. My research indicates your Quant is at 98 percentile, but your Verbal is only 47 percentile. I don't know what caliber of programs you are targeting but I am near-certain any school will at least be concerned about this disparity. I suggest using the month you have to exclusively study the Verbal section, as you should be willing to sacrifice a few Quant points to increase that Verbal score.

Good luck!
