640 on official GMAT but MGMAT is lower on verbal

I took the official GMAT in December and scored 640 M-39 V-39. I didn't do any verbal practice, really.

This was with only self study and Kaplan Advanced Math book.

I have since started the MGMAT course and scored:

MGMAT 1: 650 M-44 V-34
MGMAT 2: 650 M-45 V-33
I have been working hard on math, but what's going on with my verbal? I was an English major in college and it seems like the more verbal I practice, the worse I have been doing. Any advice? I have 5 weeks until my second attempt.
