3rd edition guides

by salmaun Mon Apr 27, 2009 3:00 am

Hi all - I'm curious if its worth purchasing the 3rd edition guides? I bought the manhattan GMAT self-study kit last September (2008) and got the 2nd edition guides with my packet. Feel a little jipped to be honest, given that the 3rd edition guides came out two weeks later =)

In any case, is it worth buying the 3rd edition guides? are there any major differences in the content?

I'm taking the GMAT for the 2nd time in June and am looking to score 730+

any thoughts/insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Do you still have your receipts from the 2nd edition? (Or did you buy the 2nd edition books directly through us?)

We had a program in place last fall that allowed people to swap out the 2nd edition books for 3rd edition for free - you could either pick them up if you live near one of our sites or you could pay for the shipping to have them shipped to you. I don't know whether the program is still valid, but if you can show your receipts or if you bought them directly through us (so that we can look you up), then maybe you can still swap them out. Contact the office (800.576.GMAT or studentservices@manhattangmat.com) to ask.

Re: whether it's worth it to get the new ones, obviously there are lots of new things but a lot of things are still the same. Think about what your strengths and weaknesses are - for your stronger areas, you may want to just stick with what is already working for you. For your weaker areas, it may be worth it to get the latest stuff because maybe that will give you some new ideas / approaches that will turn the weaknesses around. If you live near one of our offices or a bookstore that carries our books, you can always go take a look through the books and see which new ones you want to get.
