1 month to go: Feedback on Study Plan

by SG363 Wed Oct 19, 2016 11:02 am

I am planning to give GMAT in a month. Diagnostic CAT Score: 630 (Q42, V34) Target score: 730+
I will be dedicating approx. 8hrs/day 6 days/ week focussing more on Quant section. I am also planning to take 2 full length test/ week. Any help in planning study schedule would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi! We would be very happy to give you feedback on any study plan you develop. Here are some resources to consider as you think about how to study:

More on the business mindset:
https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/blog ... -the-gmat/

Time management:
http://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/blog/ ... rt-1-of-3/

Note: that article will tell you not to take 2 tests a week. It'll also tell you not to study 8 hours a day. Once you've read through that, tell me what your new plan is for those details. :)

One more thing: one month for 100 points from 630 to 730 is a very ambitious goal. I'm sure that's why you planned to spend 8 hours a day, but there's a phsyical limitation: our brains can't learn and make good memories for 8 hours' worth of material every day—and certainly not for 6 days a week. You'll burn out and then all of what you're trying to learn will be compromised.

If you have the flexibility to give yourself a longer timeframe, I recommend that you do so. Some people might be able to do the 1 month, 100 points, study tons every day thing. But most people who try that find that they don't hit their goal in that timeframe and then they're completely burned out, sick of the test, and demoralized at the end of that month. :?

Thank you Stacey for your valuable suggestion. I do realise that I have aimed high, but I have to meet college submission deadlines. Will definitely let you know the progress on my schedule.
Thanks again!
