Mixed Practice Set from LR Strategy Guide Chapter 7?

In the LR Strategy guide, 5th edition, end of Chapter 7, there is reference to a mixed practice set of assumption questions, "To complete this practice set, log in to your Student Center." I don't think I'm 100% sure where to access these. I found a Logical reasoning additional drills down...

Re: Q14

Could someone please explain what B and D would look like, in the context of this passage, if they were in fact properly describing the purpose? I ask because the abstract language of these questions tend to trip me up. I left A open as a possibility and ultimately ended up choosing it. For B, I did...

Re: Q2

I understand why (C) feels like a difficult answer to bubble in. It isn’t a Cinderella (perfectly perfect) fit, but it is the only choice supported by the passage. This inference question asks the reader to identify something that the poet Lum would agree with. According to the passage, Lum writes ...

Re: Q3

I basically always get these wrong and I'm like 20-30 tests deep into prep so I have a substantial amount of data to back up such a sweeping statement. lol. Here, I fared no better. What am I missing with these? What are we generally looking for? And please, if there's another thread somewhere that ...

Re: RC study strategy

Okay, sorry last question. How far back in LR do you think I should go? I've got about a month until the December test so do you think I should not waste my time with anything lower than the tests in the twenties, or something around there, or is everything valuable and up for grabs?

Re: Q20 - Astronomer: Earth was bombarded

Okay, so when I was doing this in a timed PT I recognized that it was a subsidiary conclusion, that it had some support.. but I got tricked by all the "probably," "could have been," "may have started" language. That is why I was afraid to choose C and ended up going wit...

Re: RC study strategy

Patrick, your responses are crazy thoughtful and incredibly helpful. Thank you! So, I'm wondering if you would say the same thing for logical reasoning. I have seen at least the most recent 20 + tests maybe even 30. I obviously can't remember individual LR questions the same way I would remember RC ...

RC study strategy

Just a quick question regarding how to proceed in studying RC. I seriously struggle with his section. I have crazy ADHD but will not be receiving services so my RC prep has been especially long and arduous because I'm trying millions of different strategies to combat some of my issues re focus and s...

Re: Q20

How is the word plausibility correct? I didn't think Meyerson was saying how plausible the criticism was... Meyerson says in the final paragraph that the CLS criticism of legal formalism regarding the requirement of objectivism is implausible. So Meyerson identifies the criticism from the CLS movem...

Re: Q19 - Arbitrator: The shipping manager admits

Okay, so this question is in the LR strategy guide, 5th edition, Principle Support Questions: In talking about the correct answer for this question they say: ---"(A) This looks pretty good, since the arbitrator does say that the manager 'should have planned for this contingency.' But wasn't tha...

Re: Q6 - The recent cleaning of frescoes

I also just wanted to point out that on (E) we get some conditional language in which "interpretations of artwork are appropriate" is the necessary condition. Just remember: this could never be the right answer even if (D) followed the "if" with something about color. This is a ...

Re: Q19 - Arbitrator: The shipping manager admits

The question stem asks,

"Which one of the following principles underlies the arbitrator's argument?"

Are we supposed to look at this similar to a necessary assumption of the argument?

Just curious if 59% is enough to say that they'd "generally" welcome the defeat..etc.?

It's obviously a most but does most = generally?

Re: Q20 - Taylor: From observing close friends

I ended up talking myself into E because I liked/hated A. My understanding of flaw questions is that they actually have to have done whatever is being charged in the answer choice. So, when I saw, "fails to address a highly plausible alternative explanation.." I was a little stymied. The c...

Re: Q6

"The question asks, the author cites which one of the claims. Does this mean, we need to pick a choice that the author agrees with?"

^^^^^ I'm curious about this too. What are we strictly looking for? Does it need to be an example used or just something explicitly said?

RC strategy guide pg 41 Reading for the Scale

This chapter teaches how to properly read for the scale. On page 41, Chapter 2, 5th edition: The scale shifts to accommodate the author's opinion that the "court's authority is both institutional and intellectual." They simultaneously switch the other side to be the opposite, which is that...
