Re: Q17 - Glen: An emphasis on law's

(D) tempting! Sara doesn't actually say that the emphasis leads to (causes) overprotection of rights.

Could we say Sara even doesn't say the emphasis on law's purely procedural side? She seems only attack Glen's assertion that what is law's primary role.

Re: Q18 - Salesperson: When a salesperson is

I really could use some help on this if someone wants to chime it. I understand why B is correct and how the other answer choices are way off. However, my question deals with the stimulus itself. I think Matt said the second premise is a distraction, why is that the case. I diagrammed it as another...

Re: PT 52, S4, Q10

(E) We can argue that Passage B outlines a theory - that lawyers write that way because they see others lawyers write that way - but if we can argue that, then we can argue that Passage A also outlines a theory - of why historians do what they do to students . From your use of "thoery", I...

Re: PT51, S3, Q20 - Whoever murdered Jansen was

Answer choice (E) undermines the conclusion because if the fingerprints found at the scene of the crime were not Samantha's, then applying the same justification the argument uses to dismiss Herbert as the Killer we could dismiss Samantha as the killer. That would directly challenge the conclusion ...

Re: Q19 - Recent studies have demonstrated that

The better reason to eliminate answer choice (D) is the one you mentioned above. It simply presents a flaw in concluding that drinking caffeinated beverages causes heart disease. And I love this answer choice, because so many of us are trained to jump on the correlation vs causation issue in a way ...

Re: Q19 - Historian: The Land Party achieved

These explanations are all great and I now understand why (A) is correct. However, I just wanted to point something out for anyone else who made the same reasoning mistake as I did by incorrectly choosing (E). At first glance, I thought we couldn't assume whether the people who are more likely to v...

Re: Q22 - Antinuclear activist: The closing

Can someone explain why B is incorrect? B looks like a narrow version of E to me. Same question! Help! Why B is not correct? I stuck between B and E and finally chose B  Is that because the subject thereof is SOURCES from which the cheap power is available, rather than the cheap power itself? ...

Re: Q13 - The National Association of Fire

So am I right that in this stimulus the NUMBER is not relevant since the PERCENTAGE can also sufficiently indicate a trend? In other words, even if the number of homes in the community declines a lot leading to less homes with smoke detectors even with a percentage of 45%, we can also conclude that ...

Hi hanhansummer , So impressive! Actually get a lot of valuable thoughts! :D However, I think for your first part of reasoning on the relationship between C and D, namely C is assuming D, the shortcut can be that the author is concerning the direct relationship between "actual flying time"...

Re: Q10 - Philosopher: People are not intellectually

PREMISE : IWS --> ~LBS CONCLUSION : H --> SPU So appreciated for your clear explanation. However, I'm wondering if the PREMISE would be LBS-->IWS? (IF living in large bureaucratic societies, THEN people need to be intellectually well suited to live there.) Although the assumption of H-->...

Re: Q4 - Because quitting smoking is very

For example, you could strengthen the argument by saying (C) Nonsmokers who tried to quit heavy alcohol consumption habits had an easier time doing so when they instead chose to meditate during the hours when they would normally start drinking. Have a quick question. If this rewritten AC is right, ...

Re: Q25 - Marianne is a professional chess

If we're going to approach the problem from a conditional perspective, doesn't D make an illegal reversal? The premise and conclusion gives us: not aware -> not voluntary -> not responsible And D gives us the assertion that if you become aware of your humming ("notice it"), then you...

Re: Q19 - The format of television news programs ...

There's definitely a missing link between "maintaining/losing the expectation of careful discussion of public issues" and "actually THINKING about public issues in oversimplified terms". The first idea is whether we expect meaningful discourse out of our news outlet. The second ...

Re: Q15 - A standard problem for computer

In the stimulus it says "(not word for word) in a small initial trial, the system NEVER incorrectly accepted someone seeking access to the computer's data thus, this result could be repeated in a operational setting, therefore there's a way of giving access to those who are entitled. Answer ch...

Re: Q8 - A translation invariably reflects

I realize this is an old post, but I wanted to ask something that I may not be quite grasping just yet. The criteria for determining whether we should choose the computer translation program over human translation seem to be: 1. speed 2. stylistic uniformity. Accuracy doesn't seem to be a criteria,...

A quick question. Can AC (D) act as a Strengthener?

The so-called environmentalist know that there are no objections work well other than the proposal of environmental concern, so they have to take this stance as their musk?

Thanks!

Re: Q13 - The tiny country of Midlandia

I'm confused of the negation of (A) :? Whether it is "Some Minlandians derive pleasure..." or " All Minlandians derive pleasure..."? I prefer to the former since “all” seems to be the logic opposite of "no/none". Am I right? Actually when a sentence contains several ind...
