Re: Q16

why is choice E wrong..is it because they didn't map out ocean floor because of first discovery? :? anyone? E is unsupported because 1) we don't know that the scientists mapped the entire ocean floor. All we have is that, in line 24, they continued to map more of the ocean floor, but they probably ...

Re: Q26 - Acquiring complete detailed information

Upon my first take, I eliminated the incorrect answer choices very quickly based solely on structure. As discussed above, any indeterminate answer choice (usually, sometimes, probably, typically, etc.) will not suffice because our conclusion and each premise in the argument are universal statements....

Re: Q25

I chose D because I read it as saying that all the line segments composing the Koch curve are of equal length. The AC ambiguously refers to it as it , which, in my opinion, could be referring the the previously mention Koch curve just as much as it could be referring to "every stage." That...

Re: Q11

After revisiting this passage, I think I have a good understanding on why A is the correct answer. It seems the only information provided in the passage that pertains to documentation of ethical violations against canon lawyers is in line 17-20: "In the few recorded episodes of disciplinary enf...

Re: Q9 - Because of the increases in the price

Struggling with this. I'm stuck between how D is correct over C. 1970-now --> Oil use decreased by 40% Why? 2 reasons: 1. Increases in the price of oil 2. Government policies promoting energy conservation Because of this, many people switched to natural gas for heating, which required investing i...

Re: Q11

I'm confused here about the " suggest a reason why " part of C. How is the author suggesting a reason why? Isn't the author just merely making the sarcastic point that the US Supreme Court hasn't always been accommodating, rather than suggesting a reason why these decisions have not favore...

Re: Q16

Why doesn't this question warrant a distinction between "literary analysis" and "analytical analysis"? The second paragraph talks about literary analysis and the fact that it focuses on linguistic, structural, and tonal integrity. Analytical analysis is brought up at the end of t...

Re: Q20 - Astronomer: Earlier estimates of the distance

But we're not talking about correlations here (inert statistical coincidence). We're talking about ACTIVE relationships! When you say "the brighter it is, the younger it is", those variables move in tandem. Yes! This is exactly what I needed to understand. The relationship between brightn...

Re: Q20 - Astronomer: Earlier estimates of the distance

Any additional insight with this question would be appreciated. Despite the thoughtful responses above, I think I am still missing something. Below is my train of thought, so someone can point out to me where I am erring in my approach to the stimulus. I am definitely misinterpreting/overthinking so...

Re: Q21

Hi, Would it still be effective to eliminate E because of the word "any" rock? The passage only discusses certain volcanic rock so E would be discussing rocks not necessarily covered in the passage. Thank you! I am not a scientist, but based on what I am getting from the passage, magnetic...

Re: Q14 - When soil is plowed

Like many who have posted above, I am stuck between A and B. Regardless of all the well reasoned defenses for A that I have read so far, I still see B as the most logical choice. A states that "Fewer pigweed plants will grow in the field if it is plowed only at night than if it is plowed during...

Re: Q20

The author literally calls Planck's position "bizarre" in line 39...and 20 is asking for the author's attitude towards Planck's development of the new hypothesis, not the hypothesis itself. Being that the author is asking about Planck's development...well...Planck's didn't do much to stren...

Re: Q11

I'm confused by this question. We know that it will likely be the client to pursue disciplinary action. (A) states that the lawyer is betraying the client's secrets to the opposing party. This does not require direct client interaction or even knowledge that it occurred (especially if the opposing p...

Re: Q18 - Frieda: Lightning causes fires

I’m curious why (A) is correct. It says it does not show that the benefits that would follow from Frieda’s recommendation would be offset by any disadvantage. But is that the only way Erik could have made Frieda’s claim pointless. Erik could have made her claims pointless in a number of ways beside...

Re: Q2 - Despite increasing international efforts

I am confused by this for the same reason as gracesingsong Firstly, I would understand refugees being within the realm of habitats if the stimulus did not specify natural habitats. An animal refugee is not a natural habitat. They are man-made sanctuaries that artificially mimic natural habitats. I r...

Re: Q6 - Mathematics teacher: Teaching students

Re: Q22 - Psychologist: It is well known

D is wrong because it specifies "those who discover." We don't care if they know they have heart disease. The "set" that the stimulus is talking about is every individual who has heart disease. D limits that set to only those who have discovered it.
