Re: Q2

Funny, I just took PT 67 and have the EXACT same question. I don't like A because I see no indication that the author actually use this information. At least with D you could make an argument that this was a hobby that was outside of (albeit related to) his professional life, the same way a professi...

Re: Q12

Esultana, this one stuck me at first but here's how I understood the relevant section of the text and the related question is as follows: TEXT: Shostak uses a western tradition to do something surprising. Real lives are not stories and can be boring and shapeless, but somehow Shostak makes a story e...

Re: Q4 - Doctor: The practice of using this therapy to treat the

Everyone seems to be saying that E is a perfect paraphrase of the conclusion. I don't see it, can someone please explain? The conclusion says that "the fact that something is better than nothing is not a god enough reason to use the therapy," this is not the same as saying it isn't effecti...

Re: Q9 - During the three months

Why can't the answer be E? What if students in California had more dreams at night than those in Ontario? What if students in Ontario rarely dream, if ever? So the number of earthquake dreams is smaller only because the number of total dreams is smaller. For example: only 1 person in Ontario dreame...

Re: Q25

What about (E)? I was torn between B and E and ultimately picked B, but I'm having a hard time seeing why exactly E is wrong. The passage mentions that one reason the fees shouldn't be too high is to "ensure that just compensation to the plaintiffs is not eroded" i.e., that the plaintiff g...

Re: Q6 - After an oil spill

I found this a very hard/strange question and got it right, so I'm posting my thoughts here. The question makes an argument: Premise: The effort saved some affected otters, but the vast majority died Premise: Even more of them died than we think because only one fifth of the dead ones were found. Co...

Re: Q25 - Political philosopher: A just system

I am having a bit of trouble wrapping my brain around this one..Could someone please try to summarize the reasoning used in the stimulus. Also, why was C incorrect? It would be great if you could review why each answer choice aside from A was wrong just for clarity. Thank you :o There is a very sim...

Re: Q19 - Anthropologist: It was formerly believed

...Otherwise, we would have to say that we're not related to them, either! I agree with you that this is an ugly one! I see your argument and I'm still digesting whether or not I agree; it seems like a little bit too much of an inference to go into the logical inconsistencies of assuming our DNA is...

Re: Q4 - Doctor: The practice of using this therapy to treat the

The conclusion says that "the fact that something is better than nothing is not a god enough reason to use the therapy," this is not the same as saying it isn't effective, it's just saying THAT argument isn't enough (because it's also complicated and expensive). What if the therapy also h...

Re: Q14

I chose C tenative in claims because the author is not certain "i.e. tenative" concerning in its claims "that we can be sure one way or the other concerning the reliability of fingerprinting -- it's uncertain/unclear/yet to be determined by more rigorous testing" I can understan...

Re: Q7

This question tricked me also. I chose 'B', which contrary to the explanation above does directly bear on whether these works revolutionized the genre of autobiography ("few critically acclaimed books...have been [mixed genre] autobiographical collections"). I think that B is a poor answe...

So we know selling well isn't a good thing for an underground rock group but also that not selling well could possibly be bad thing aka incompetence. Generally speaking, we don't really know what makes a rockgroup successful but we do know what makes it unsuccessful(too trendy or incompetence) You ...
