Re: Q23 - Biologists found that off

D is wrong because it is NOT corroborating this part of the stimulus "NO OTHER species in the ecosystem appear to be affected"

OK XYZ are all experiencing starvation "within the AFFECTED region" , BUT WHY aren't OTHER species unaffected?

This is one of the reasons why D is wrong

Re: Q1 - Curator: Critics have rightly claimed

Just to clarify - for Principle Support questions, the principle has to support the conclusion, right? We don't seek to draw a principle FROM the conclusion? I think that is the rule... YES Principle PROVE questions should be attacked by drawing the principle underlying in the original stimulus and...

Re: Q10 - In a vast ocean region

hey for inference questions, are we suppose to make assumptions based on the stimulus or are we suppose to make connections on the given information? I was really confused because in strengthen, the right answer is usually doesn't contain given information. Inference questions belong to the "p...

Re: Q4 - In polluted industrial English cities

In order to strengthen a causal conclusion, you can provide an example to prove that 1) when the cause happened the effect did happen 2) when the cause did NOT happen, the effect did NOT happen answer choice D does the latter of the above two options. Here, the cause is the "air pollution"...

Re: Q4

I was debating between A,C,E and chose E. I can see how A is definitely the correct answer, and I can also clearly see how C is not the right answer due to the subtlety of the wording 'analyze'. But can you elaborate further on how E is unsupported? It seems as though the author DOES explains the me...

Re: Q5 - The case before me involves

But doesn't the stimulus say "without their codefendants OR their codefendants' legal counsel being present"?

Does "Without A or B" mean "Not A AND Not B" ?

I know that "neither A nor B" = not A and not B.

Can anyone please clarify?

Thanks a lot.

Q14 - University president: Research institutions have

I chose A as the answer but apparently E is the correct answer. I can see why E is the right answer but I can't seem to definitively rule out A either. My thought process was: if some promise of yielding insights into practical problems that affect qualify of life --> research institution is obli...

Q2 - Forest fragmentation occurs when

I got this question right when I was doing the PT under timed conditions. However, I was torn between answer choices D and E, but I correctly chose D as the right answer. I decided not to choose E because it says "deer ticks increase". The only info that we have regarding the ticks is that...

Q9 - All laundry detergents

Why is C wrong?
Is it because it is too general in scope? (by stating "laundry detergents" instead of "laundry detergents that are advertised as ecologically friendly"?)

Can anyone elaborate?

Re: Q7

I also left (C) for the second wrong-to-right pass. What I initially saw as wrong with it is was that we don't learn about other forms of African American folk art - we only learn about blues. However, I probably was mistakenly putting spirituals into a different non-art category. Instead, what I n...

Q16 - On the basis of the available

Is E wrong because of the strong language "melted either as a result of"? (The stimulus has the non-absolute wording "could have")

Can anyone please respond in a timely manner?

Thanks a lot.

Q16

I chose B as the answer but even after re-reading the passage, I can't seem to figure out why B isn't the correct answer. Although I understand that the word "decry" is rather a little too harsh/extreme, for some reason I thought that the author was being critical in how too much attention...

Re: Q4 - In a study of patients

You nailed it. If you're trying to strengthen a causal argument, then you'd like to know that other possible causal factors were controlled for. So it's always possible to weaken a causal argument by pointing out some uncontrolled variable that might REALLY be the important causal factor. Nice work...
