Preptest 49 June 2006 LSAT answers
16. (D)
Question type: Inference
This argument is worth breaking down into some simple statements, beginning with the definitive ones: If 18+ hrs. wrk. → No Leisure. Its contrapositive: If Leisure time → < 18 hrs. wrk. The first statement only tells us that most successful entrepreneurs fall into the 18+ category (and are therefore without leisure time). The final statement explains that all happy entrepreneurs have leisure time (and therefore work less than 18 hours), and we can draw two logical statements from this: 1) If happy e. → Lesiure time (→ < 18 hrs. wrk), and 2) If No Leisure → Not Happy. We can attach this last statement to the first one we drew to form a logical chain: 18+ hrs. wrk. → No leisure → Not Happy. The correct answer will be something that is false according to these above statements. Answer (D) is false according to the last logic chain we formed.
All the other answers are either supported by the statements (B) or, more often are simply not proven false by them, as in (A), (C) and (E).
I know you're going to work with Mike a bit in study hall on this, so tell me if you have any further questions on this after that.
