Re: READ BEFORE YOU POST: GMATPrep Math guidelines

Hi Stacey, I just completed a GMAT Prep practice exam and I am trying to search for answer solutions based on the first 5 words of the question (as suggested in the post program follow-up sheet). The search does not seem to work when I have variables (x, y, z) or mathematical calculations (+, *, etc...

Are x and y both positive?

Are x and y both positive?

(1) 2x - 2y = 1
(2) x/y > 1

I quickly eliminated A and B since neither statement alone is sufficient but I am having a hard time setting up a methodical way to prove that together they are sufficient (the correct answer).

Thanks!

Arielle

Is the integer x divisible by 6?

Is the integer x divisible by 6? (1) x + 3 is divisible by 3 (2) x + 3 is an odd number I got this question right by creating a table with various numbers and testing values (x = 3, 6, 9, 12...), although this process was a bit time consuming and I was less than confident with my answer. I know thes...

Re: Often major economic shifts are so gradual as to be...

Hi Ron - I am still a little unclear how i would approach a similar sentence in the future. In terms of splits we have so gradual vs. gradual enough indistinguishable vs distinguished (depends on the rest of the sentence but is one correct or not) so gradual as/so/that..... can you walk through your...
