Former Veritas to MGMAT Advocate has some questions

Hi, Background I'm currently in between jobs and I've been studying for the GMAT for about 2 months and have increased my score about 100 points. I was very weak in quant, but much better in verbal specifically SC. My CR could use a lot of work, and I've found that the Skeletal Sketch for RC has inc...

Re: Practice Test Scores are getting lower HELP!

Thank you Stacey, I never really considered looking at my error logs but now consider it a big part of studying! I sat for the GMAT last week Saturday. My practice test three days before the test, GMAT Prep , was Q35 V38 600 . It was the first time I ever got to 600 and took me about a month to do. ...

Re: Practice Test Scores are getting lower HELP!

Stacey, Thanks for the prompt reply. I wonder how you can answer so many of the same questions online and stay sane. For the AWA I felt that my analysis of an argument was much stronger than analysis of an issue. In fact, I felt the latter was very shotty and half assed. The issue sometimes will lar...

Re: Circular Track

Hi two questions, I got this same question on my MGMAT CAT #3, is there a reason why the first poster got it on the 6th and I got it on the 3rd? This was one of the last questions, that I guessed to my benefit correctly. Now for the mathematics. I understand that you have to make an RTD chart and co...

MGMAT CAT's

Is there a way to reset all of the CAT exams so you can do them over again? It would be great to see the difference in performance after you've come back to the test after a month of additional prep.

Equations Inequalities and VIC's Question Bank Problem

I don't know if I'm allowed to post these, but I disagree with question 14. f(x)=ax^4-4x^2+ax-3 Therefore, f(b)=ab^4-4b^2+ab-3 f(-b)=-ab^4+4b^2-ab-3 Therefore f(b)-f(-b)= (ab^4-4b^2+ab-3) -(-ab^4+4b^2-ab-3) =ab^4-4b^2+ab-3 + ab^4-4b^2+ab+3 = 2ab^4-8b^2+2ab Divide by 2 =ab^4-4b^2+ab Please comment

Re: MGMAT CAT's

Thanks Stacy! Will do. Another question. I just finished another practice CAT and noticed something about the verbal section. Majority of the questions were all in the 700-800 bank. 2 questions 500-600 level, 5 questions in the 600-700 level, and the rest in 700-800. Even if I got answers wrong in t...

Re: Reliability of 800 score tests?

I took all off the 800 score tests and here's my take on them. 800 score is NOT representative of actual GMAT AT ALL. I was working on an intensive week of verbal, so took the verbal test section each day. I finished each test within half the time allotted and got high 35-39's raw score. If you can ...

Re: Effect of guessing

Just a question, how would the test know that you are guessing? I don't think its that smart. There could be other reasons why a student would answer a question quickly. For example, I've read a DS question and solved it 10-20 seconds with the correct answer. Usually when I guess, I'll actually have...

Re: Reliability of 800 score tests?

I guess my answer looks like this. It highly depends on your performance. But overall, I found that majority of the questions in the OG are easier than the actual test. Just my opinion, but to summarize my own test taking experience, imagine the hardest and longest SC questions you've seen in the OG...

Re: Reliability of 800 score tests?

lol cyber, had a feeling you would ask that. Tell you the truth, for my test experience, I actually scored higher on the actual GMAT than on any practice test I've done including MGMAT. The highest I scored on practice tests were 38, and for the actual test 42! It took me a month to get from 30-33 t...

Re: RC, i don't think it is reasonable

You don't consider that Banda Islands is the name of the collection of islands. Therefore an island in this set of islands. In which case A is correct. I was also stumped with this one too, but it turned out to be the most plausible answer of eliminating the other answer choices.

Re: disagree with CR

The answer choice incorrectly uses the word "imported". Imported means buying something FROM another country. If you go to another country and buy something there, you are not buying FROM that country, you are buying IN that country. I agree with you here and disagree with the post above ...
