Re: 4th ed word translations pg 136

Is the reason rounding up to 161 is not possible because (2.5) x (161) > 401?

Grouping Qs: Word Translations, 5th Edition (page 81 online)

With regards to Grouping Problems in the Extra Problem Types Chapter, the book says: "For some problems, may want to think about the most or least evenly distributed arrangement of the items. That is, assign to groups as evenly (or unevenly) as possible to create extreme cases." Can you pr...

Re: While on a straight road, car X and car Y

Can you please explain how you would solve this problem using the RTD chart. When I see rates problem, I try to use the same approach (RTD chart) and couldn't figure out how to apply it to this problem. Thanks.

Ron,

Thank you for your responses. They were very helpful. And to answer your question regarding the book, no problem / example was offered as an illustration.

Re: What is the ratio x:y:z?

In the first post, GayaneP973 asked if the statement: "If a Data Sufficiency question asks for the relative value of two pieces of a ratio, ANY statement that gives the relative value of ANY two pieces of the ratio will be sufficient." applied to the problem This question comes from the FD...

Making Assumptions Based on Number of Equations and Variable

The Algebra Strategy guide in Chapter 8 states that one should not make assumptions about sufficiency based on the number of variables and equations in the problem. As discussed in the chapter this is not safe because of combo and mismatch situations, but I was wondering if there is a time (or scena...

Re: 4th ed word translations pg 136

Tim,

After reading your previous post, I am still unsure of what your intuition was for choosing 160 versus 161. Can you explain further? Was my reasoning that "161 is not possible because (2.5) x (161) > 401" and therefore does not adhere to the constraints not sound?

Thanks.

Is the conclusion of the argument: "So, even if bacteria did arrive on Earth from Mars, they must have died out."

Whats wrong with answer choice B?

Thanks.

Why is "it" not an issue in the sentence? Is "making it" a special construction that does not require "it" to have an antecedent? Thanks

Re: In late 1997,the chambers inside the pyramid

In the original question posted, is the use of ",which" correct in answer choice A? I thought that the ",which" modifier is referring to moisture, and thus, it should be touching "moisture". Also, can you list the exceptions for which a noun modifier does NOT have to to...

Re: In late 1997,the chambers inside the pyramid

Ron,

Thank you for your response! So is the ",which" the only notable modifier type that we should evaluate strictly to see if it is touching the noun it's modifying? Or are there other notable modifiers that we should pay special attention to as well for this rule?

Thanks!
