Re: "such as" in "Bethlehem Steel"

Hi Ron , why is option C incorrect ? although it seems correct to me i interpreted it in this way - with "as" in option B - the steel industry... changed as companies .... - here it means sole reason steel industry changed was large , integrated companies have downsized or shut down with &...

Action noun parallel to complex gerund form

I read Manhattan Sentence Correction guide and came across the section Action Nouns , simple gerunds and complex gerunds. Under that topic , i saw "only complex gerunds can be parallel to action nouns" But i have a sentence , Doctors generally agree that such factors as cigarette smoking, ...

Re: SC: A report by the American Academy for the Advancement

ok, first things first. the CORRECT answer to this problem is, unfortunately, the missing answer choice (e): (E) many of the currently uncontrolled dioxins to which North Americans are exposed come -- also: you cannot end a modifier with a preposition. so: dioxins that north americans are exposed t...

Re: Action noun parallel to complex gerund form

also, more importantly--remember that parallelism is a "beauty contest" among answer choices. you should NOT judge the parallelism in individual sentences . rather, you should make relative judgments among the given answer choices. if you approach parallelism in this way, not only will it...

Re: "such as" in "Bethlehem Steel"

importantly, you don't have to think about this ^^ at random. (if you were to consider the overall structure of every problem-- regardless of whether you had a good reason to do so-- you'd squander a huge amount of time.) here you have "with" vs. "as". • "with" is foll...

Re: Confusion in - SC Question BANK-Q 7

Ron, Do we not see a change of the meaning when we go from the original sentence in which the tomato is solely "harmless" to choice D in which the tomato is "known to be harmless?" The idea that the tomato is currently known to be harmless does not seem to be found in the origin...

Re: In some species of Cricket, the number of chirps per minute

"It" is used as a subject pronoun, and so it most logically connects to the subject of the previous clause. This is "clear enough." In general, don't go nuts with your pronoun-clarity rules; if something really seems perfectly clear to you, let it be. (Huge caveat here: you need...

are you sure that this is an official gmatprep question? while it's not wildly different from the official problems i've seen, it's not as "tight" (in terms of concision, diction, etc.) as most of those problems. -- in any case, the main problem i see with choice (c) isn't a pronoun issue...

Re: Strengthen arg by consolidating the argument feasibility?

you have a good point. what does the answer key say about that choice? Hi Ron , This is what answer key tells about option E This choice states that properties in the interior of cities are more expensive than those on the waterfront. Although waterfront properties are therefore cheaper to acquire,...

Re: Present Tense + Conditional Tense

"to have ___ed" is the only past-tense version of "to ___". hello Ron , I came across one of your posts which says that "To ___" and "to have ___ed" are not verbs, so they don't have "tenses". Only verbs have tenses. https://www.manhattanprep.com/gm...
