Re: In a senior class, 72%

The questions is asking for what % of senior class is male. To find that out you need to know the relationship between either # of male students to female students or their weighted average. Their weighted average would give you a relationship of proportion male students to female (not actual #) but...

Re: SC problem-coyote

Seems like if you use "to be" following "when" can change the meaning of the sentence. Almost as if "to be" is modifying "when" comes off as awkward and generally wordy when compared to "the ability to" Is there a rule that I am missing here? Or is m...

In the xy=plane, at what two points. DS

http://s19.postimage.org/s7deh7zdr/gmap_prep_question.jpg After reviewing this problem I think that I understand it. Can someone please explain. My first step was to rephrase the question... and put it in the format of y=mx+b y=x^2+bx+ax+ab afterwards, statement once gives me what a...

In the figure above, points p and q

http://s19.postimage.org/i6hqze127/prep_q2.jpg After re-evaluating this question (at the time of knowing the right answer) I guess that the imaginary triangle that can be formed in the second quadrant (point OP and x axis(z)) means that it is a 30 60 90 triangle means that angle poz...

Re: In the mid-1920s the Hawthorne Works

after reviewing this problem I am trying to apply an unorthodox method that seems to work for me sometimes, especially with meaning/modifer sentences. I was just hoping if one of the instructors were to give me the green light on whether my reasoning is correct. For this specific problem In the mid-...

Has the math focus shifted?

I know this is a very general question but I'm hoping someone can shine some light on this issue. I like to think that I am a very good math student and my mba.com gmat prep tests were regularly shooting out 48-50 Quantitative scores. I have just took the Gmat this past weekend (2nd time) and for th...

Re: If x, y, and z are integers, is x even?

Exponent simplification. Is X even? 10^x= 4^y * 5^z first off "10^x"="(2^X)(5^X)" Statement 1 is a FACT. Put it in this form to see if x is even 4^y= 2^2^y= 2^2y 5^z is simplified so the rephrase is 10^x= (2^2y)(5^Z) for this statement to be true. remember it is true. its a stem....

Of the N candies in a Bag some are peppermint some

I have covered probabilities pretty extensively, but I struggle with Data Sufficiency questions similar to this one, I can't seem to find anything in the study guides either. I recently took the GMAT and I saw 1 or 2 questions very similar to the one below. This is one that I found in the New Gmat P...

Re: Of the N candies in a Bag some are peppermint some

The way I came to an answer was very similar to yours, but I was hoping someone can show me a more effective route... statement 1 says 1 Less peppermint and ratio becomes of 1:4 (P:S) This means that N is a multiple of 5..+1 6 11 16 21 26 INS Statement 2 says 2 Less spearmints and the ratio becomes ...
