Word Translation Chapter 2 question 3

The population of grasshoppers doubles in a particular field every year. Approximately how many years will it take the population to grow from 2000 grasshoppers to 1000000 or more? *** The guide tells me to do it manually, I wonder if there's a short cut? Such as using exponential growth formula. Th...

CAT SC pronoun vs. relative pronoun

Hi, I have trouble understanding the bolded part in the explanationm for A in this problem, please help: The spatial relationships among the elements of Jan Micker’s 1652 masterwork Bird’s Eye View of Amsterdam, which he painted long before such a vantage point became possible, are much more subtle ...

is d negative

Hi, I wonder if my approach to this problem is right: Is d negative? (1) e + d = -12 (2) e - d < -12 Since either statement alone is sufficient and we must combine them. I wonder if I can add the two statements together and first cancel out d to get: 2e < -24 so e<-12 Then plug that value b...

Geologists once thought that the molten rock

Geologists once thought that the molten rock known as lava was an underground remnant of Earth's earliest days, sporadically erupting through volcanoes ,but they now know that it is continuously created by the heat of the radioactivity deep inside the planet. was an underground remnant of Earth's ea...

Re: In the figure above, if x and y are each less than 90 and PS

Hi, I wonder if my approach to this problem is right. It took a long time to figure out though: I tried to rephrase the question: The figure PQRS seems like a parallelogram to me and the fact that question is asking whether length of segment PQ is less than length of segment SR makes me think of the...

Re: The rate of a certain chemical reaction

I can't believe I spent 1 hour on solving this problem, after searching all sorts of different explanations provided by MGMAT staffs, Beat the gmat people and Knewton, eventually figured out a way from my own perspective, please let me know if my reasoning is correct: r= (A^2) C= (1/B) K Where C=som...

Re: A construction company was paid a total of $500,000 for a ..

Hi Ron, Thanks for the great approach! I've learned so much from your replies and your lecture :) I thought up two other ways to tackle this when we combine both statements (given that I already know that either statement alone isn't sufficient), please let me know if my reasoning is correct, thanks...

Re: A construction company was paid a total of $500,000 for a ..

If 3m=total cost of project. Than the most m can represent is 166,666. or 1/3 of 500,000. we know that m+L= cost of project which means L cant exceed 166,666r because we know P>L we know that profit is greater than labor. So yes profit is greater than 150,000 hi -- if you are going to work out d...

Re: is d negative

With your approach you can’t just plug e<-12 into either statement, because plugging into statement 2 is inconclusive. However, since you have both statements to use, you still have sufficient information because plugging into 1 tells you d is positive. A better approach though would be to subtr...

I got this question in my first attempt. But, the key to the question is that those who speak German also speak English, hence German only speakers = 0. Re: Measurments in increasing order

I used a different approach, with the concept similar to that of "residuals", I would call it "difference" To better illustrate, let's look at an example: 1 3 7 8 12 median: 7 what's the mean? 6.2 Besides by doing sum/total amount of numbers in the set, there's another way to get...
