* MGMAT - Challenge Problem - April 18 2011

Hi - I understand the answer for this question, but I am having issues with the stem of the question: 1101 = (1 × 2^3) + (1 × 2^2) + (0 × 2^1) + (1 × 2^0) = 25 When I add this, I get 13: 8 + 4 + 0 + 1 What am I missing? Thanks! Question Every digit of a number written in binary is either 0 or 1....

Re: 1<x<9. What inequality represents this condition?

thank you for the explanation - just a quick question:

(c)
-9 < x - 1 < 9
-10 < x < 8
incorrect

should this be -8< x < 10 instead?

If n is a positive integer and the remainder is r when (n-1)

From GMAT Prep Exam If n is a positive integer and the remainder is r when (n-1)(n+1) is divided by 24, what is the value of r? (1) 2 is not a factor of n (2) 3 is not a factor of n Answer C I can see that from the statements, n is an odd integer not divisible by 3. This means that n-1 and n+1 are e...

I don’t understand how to get this answer with the statements alone. I can see how to use them together, but not alone. Thanks!

3-4-5, 5-12-13, 8-15-17 triangles

If we are told that the sides of a triangle are one of the right triangle ratios (ex: 3-4-5), can we always assume its a right triangle? Or is it possible to have a non-right triagle with those measurements?

Re: Negative slope line

I find it is helpful to draw a picture. If you draw a picture with a line that passes through the origin, and take statement 1, where the slope is negative, you see that the line has to go through only quad 2 and 4. So you can narrow a,b to being a point in either quad 2 or 4. In quad 2, a is -, and...

620 to 730 in 31 Days!

Hi Everyone, I am so pleased with my experience with Manhattan GMAT, I wanted to share this with everyone: At the end of March, I purchased all of the MGMAT books and studied them along with the MGMAT question banks. I studied the materials for 5 weeks and scored a 620 (Q 41, V35). I was not pleased...

Re: Self-Study

I highly recommend the Manhattan GMAT materials and self-study course (the 9 pre-recorded classes). I tried studying all the materials by myself for a month and did not do that well, but then I watched the 9 classes and significantly increased my score. The classes really help you focus on the right...
