"Cooperative" and "organized" are parallel. The other modifier isn't parallel to those, although it's modifying the same noun (society).

Thanks Ron for your help.
Rule : Verb-ing will modify the closest noun.
I misunderstood the statement mentioned by OG. :-)

This question is freaking me out..ahh..
==========================
A.wasps living in a highly cooperative and organized society where they consist almost entirely of
B.wasps that live in a highly cooperative and organized society consisting almost entirely of

You've said that GMAC will not test the difference between 'noun. that v.' and 'noun. v-ing'

So, may I say that the only reason why A is wrong is that
'they', which refer to wasps in option A, can not consist almost entirely of blablabla.
Only society can consist almost entirely of blablabla..

the problem is kind of a tricky test of S. V. agreement.

There's no subject-verb problem; "they" and "consist" are in perfect agreement.

The problem you've described"”which is, indeed, a problem"”is a pronoun problem. Perhaps you're just getting the terms mixed up.

You have said that 'and' connects 2 independent things/facts in one sentence. Why the writer of the sentence want to connect 2 independent facts together?? Why don't they use '.', a full-stop.if the writer wants to describe 2 independent things or facts?

When should we use 'and' and when should we use a full-stop???
Please help me, a non-native speaker.
Thanks, Ron~~

One question mark is enough; two or more is rude.

GMAT sentence correction is sentence correction. Always single sentences; never multiple sentences. So, this issue is irrelevant to the GMAT.

i wanna ask an easy question about the use of dash in this sentence: "Yellow jackets number among the 900 or so species of the world’s social wasps, wasps living in a highly cooperative and organized society where they consist almost entirely of females"”the queen and her sterile female workers."

Does the dash equal the colon here?

Basically yes, although you should probably quote the correct sentence.

the OG answer keys are usually incomplete—and quite often wrong.
the keys are subcontracted to people who are, to be blunt, nowhere near as good as the problem writers. in many cases they just don't know how to explain how, or why, something is incorrect. (to be fair, good explanations are not very easy to find.)

also, since this problem is from OG, i'm going to lock this thread.

if anyone finds this problem in the FREE gmat prep software (NOT in one of the paid 'packs'), then please post a screen shot (in a new thread, of course).
thanks.
