sorry to dig this old one,

Why is D incorrect?
the construction so X as to Y seems to be used correctly here (not same error as in C)
in C subject is lack, whereas in D subject is students, perfect. Then why is it incorrect?
What am i missing?
Thanks

First, this is a very old problem. I found it in the 11th edition OG but not in a subsequent version. Please note that old questions are not as useful for studying as more recent questions.

That said, the "so X as to Y" construction you refer to is *not* actually present in answer choice D. Take a closer look.

Great! didn't know that it has been discarded from recent material.

Thanks Tim.
Have a nice day.

yep—the problems that have been tossed have been tossed for specific reasons. thus it's unwise to pay much attention to them (unless you KNOW specifically which issue is the reason why a particular problem was thrown out; THEN you could study the REST of that problem).

Thank you very much Ron,
This very problem had been my Achilles heel.

are lacking so much in math skills as to be difficult to absorb into a city’s economy becoming

Isn't it the same construction?

this thread is now locked. not only is this problem from OG, but it's not even from the current OG (or anything even remotely close—tim didn't find it in anything more recent than the 11th edition).

i don't know where the screen shots on page 1 are taken from, but it certainly isn't GMAT Prep; that is definitely NOT what the GMAT Prep software looks like.
